Signal Chain

"Ship calmly, cut ruthlessly, talk to customers weekly."

How it plays

Four phases. 8 min.

Signal Chain is the digital telephone game with teeth. The host writes a one-sentence message; player 1 reads it, then writes their own version for player 2, and so on. The original and the final message are revealed side by side. Hilarity (and accidental insight) ensue.

Phase 01

Origin

15s

Host writes the original message.

Phase 02

Chain

30s × N

Each player rewrites for the next.

Phase 03

Reveal

30s

Original and final shown side by side.

Phase 04

Audit

60s

Room votes on which step changed it most.

Why teams use it

It works because it’s structured.

01

Mimics real comms decay

Watch the strategy memo lose its spine over five rewrites — like real life.

02

Teaches sharp writing

Players learn to compress without losing meaning.

03

Ridiculously rewatchable

No two rounds end the same way.

Sample prompts

What you might play with.

01 "Ship calmly, cut ruthlessly, talk to customers weekly."
02 "We’re moving the launch to next Tuesday."
03 "Remote-first, not remote-only."

Best for.
